What is the target level for my blood pressure?
The basic target set by the guidelines of the European Society of Hypertension is a blood pressure level less than 140/85 mm Hg. If you have diabetes the target level is less than 130/80 mm Hg. But, don’t be surprised if your doctor recommends a target level that is even lower, less than 120/80 mm Hg, because research has shown that a lower blood pressure level better reduces your risk of a heart attack or stroke or other circulatory problems.
