How common is high blood pressure?
If you, or a member of your family, have recently been diagnosed with high blood pressure, you’re not alone. High blood pressure affects nearly 1 billion people
worldwide—that’s about 25% of the total adult population. Experts expect this number to increase. That means that 1 in 4 people has high blood pressure, therefore, it is important that you have your blood pressure measured regularly. In the older population, high blood pressure is even more common and affects more than 50% of those who are over the age of 60.
